Project

These posters were created by the inspiring work of architects Venturi and Scott Brown. This was an experimentation of the use of connotation and denotation; one poster was created for each.

DENOTATIVE

The typeface I chose to use for this poster was Shree Devanagari 71. It is very open and clean, while still having a unique look to it, exactly what I was looking for when designing these posters based on Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown's architecture. For example, the "R" has is a bit unusual but only when looked at closely.

CONNOTATIVE

This denotative poster was based off of their
style of architecture. In their structures, there was always an element of asymmetry that they included, which I tried to emulate with the blocks of type.

The typeface used in this poster was Raleway. The point of choosing this typeface was because of specific glyphs having characteristics that had the feeling of the architecture done by Venturi and Scott Brown. For example, the "w."
